connecting East Africans home and abroad.

Forget about the bold and the beautiful which is a Kenyan favorite too. Kenyans have a heart for the Mexican Soap Operas. I remember when i was growing up i used to watch "no one but you" starring Lucia Mendez as Raquel and Antonio Lombardo among others. That was in the 90's when KBC aired it. Most Kenyans who had television sets then could not afford to miis it.

To make things worse, more Mexican soap operas hit the Kenyan airwaves and they were all hits. I remember when i was in high school, i used to watch La revancha and La mujer something. To add the insult to the injury, most of these Mexican soaps were in Spanish. Now tell me;how many Kenyans understand Spanish. But they still watched them. Surely Kenyans like the Mexican soap operas.

i'm glad the trend is being swept away by the local productions, and rugby tide

thats true, Kenyan media needs to support its own production more than the foreign so that it can grow and become better. In America they care less about other countries music or shows, they fully support theirs. People should stop saying that our productions are poor. Instead we should support and this will encourage the creators to seek ways to make it better.
One set back for Africa is that its people don't support their own stuff and instead they compare it with the first world countries.

i didn't watch the ones you mentioned but I love to watch mexican soap operas now for several reasons. one is that I took spanish in high school and it helps me learn more now that I have forgotten somethings and second, i like to watch how dramatic and how made up the women are when it comes to their makeup.
